I began the clinical psychology program at UNB in September 2001 under Carmen's supervision, after completing an Honours BSc in psychology at Trent University. Clinically, I enjoy working with both adults and children, however, my primarily focus is on women's issues. I had the opportunity to do practicum placements at the Chalmers Hospital as part of the adult team, and at Fredericton Mental Health working with children and adolescents. These experiences allowed me to work with many women, men, and children with a wide variety of mental health issues. Presently, I work for Byers, Heinlein and Associates in private practice.

I have had the opportunity to be involved in some interesting and informative research since coming to UNB. As my first research apprenticeship, I completed a study examining the everyday experiences of female correctional officers working in provincial institutions in New Brunswick. My second project investigated how women manage their experiences during childbirth in the hospital setting, specifically, I looked at the role of caregiving by nurses. My final project, and PhD dissertation, will look at the experiences of female correctional officers across Canada. 

This past year, I was invited to take part in the New Brunswick Roundtable on Maternity and Newborn Care. The goal of this group is to devise a proposal to lobby government to implement a strategy to improve Maternity and Newborn Care in New Brunswick. To date the activates of this group have been the creation of a proposal to lobby government to implement a strategy to improve Maternity and Newborn Care in New Brunswick.
