About me

I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of New Brunswick. I enjoy simplicity. I was born in a village of Nanjing, China. From 2007 to 2011, I studied Mathematics at Xi'an Jiaotong University, China. In 2012, I started pursuing a Master and then PhD degree in Statistics at York University, Canada. While studying at York University, I was mentored by Professor Hélène Massam. Unfortunately, she Passed away in 2020 . Hélène was was a great Statistician and passionate about research. Working with her is the best experience in my life.

I obtained my PhD in Statistics in 2017, and then worked as a postdoctoral fellowship from 2017 to 2019 with Dr. Laurent Briollais at Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute. In 2020, I did my second postdoc with Dr. Piotr Zwiernik in Barcelona. After that, I was hired by University of New Brunswick in 2021.

Further details can be found in my curriculum vitæ.

Work with me

I am looking for undergraduate and graduate students interested in mathematical statistics and its aspects related to optimization, Bayesian analysis, and machine learning.

Research

Research interests

I am interested in developing statistical learning methods to analyze high-dimensional data arising from machine learning problems or genetic research.

Graphical models; Composite likelihood; Bayesian model selection, and linear mixed models in genome-wide association study (GWAS).
