Dr. Dominique Damant, Professor and Director, École de service social, Université de Montréal worked as a social worker for more than 20 years. She has been involved in research on violence against women since 1995. Her research has focussed on domestic violence, motherhood and domestic violence, as well as the co-occurrence of domestic violence and child maltreatment. Her recent projects link violence and women’s health, focusing on injectable drugs and sex-trade workers. She is interested in the judiciary treatment of domestic violence and how it empowers women victims as well as the negative aspects of the judicial treatment of women sex workers.
