GGE Alumnus Receives Prestigious Award from NASA

The award recognizes the importance of the development of a new algorithm for routine estimation of global electron content using 1000+ ground-based Global Positioning System receivers (including one at UNB). A former student of Prof. Richard Langley, Dr. Komjathy is an expert on the effect of the ionosphere on GPS signals, having written his Ph.D. dissertation on global ionospheric total electron content mapping using GPS. He received a Governor General's Gold Medal for his Ph.D. work.

Dr. Komjathy and his colleague Dr. Anthony Mannucci received framed certificates and a significant monetary award at a ceremony on 16 November at JPL.

The certificate citation reads "For the creative development of exceptional scientific and technical contributions which have been determined to be of significant value in the advancement of the aerospace technology program of NASA."
