Present day in Grand Lake Meadows

Grand Lake Meadows is classified by the Government of New Brunswick as a Class II Protected Natural Area. This classification protects the area from development and allows for low impact recreational activities, thus preserving its complex and inter-related ecosystem.

Present day activites are seasonal and include:

  • Recreation: bird watching, boating, cross country skiing, duck hunting, and snowmobiling
  • Beef cattle operation
  • Growing crops: cabbage, pumpkins, corn, tomatoes, and potatoes
  • Harvesting: firewood, fiddleheads, and muskrats
