Ali Johnson

Lab Manager

Ali is mostly an artist but can often be found working in molecular biology labs. She began playing the violin as a child and has participated in many different ensembles and orchestras over the years. During high school, Ali enjoyed music and art classes, but also had an appreciation of the sciences and so chose this as her future academic concentration. While continuing to dabble in music and art, she completed her bachelor of science majoring in biology-chemistry. During her final year, she worked in Dr. Dion Durnford's lab on her honours project investigating chlamydomonas reinhardtii mutants. Since graduating, Ali has worked in various biochemistry and molecular labs, both in academic and commercial settings.

Ali has been active as an amateur musician in the Fredericton music scene, performing in The Fredericton Chamber Orchestra, Symphony New Brunswick, York Early Music Ensemble, Canon String Quartet, Fiddlehead String quartet, and occasionally gives violin lessons. She also is teaching herself to play piano and guitar. Today, Ali spends most of her free time creating things, playing music, gardening, or working on her house. She lives with her husband Adam, and two cats (Elf and Nymph).
