Bethany Hermann

Technical Staff

I grew up on a farm close to Hartland, NB (yes... the home of the world's longest covered bridge). With aspirations to become a veterinarian, I attended Nova Scotia Agricultural College, where I ran a muck for nearly a year. During my stay at NSAC, I met my husband, Kurt, who happened to come from Australia. This inspired me to study abroad, and off I went to the land down under to begin a Science degree at the University of Wollongong. Thanks to the Canadian student loans program, I found myself back in Canada... earlier than expected. This is when I began my BSc. at the University of New Brunswick. While I was working on my Honours project, I met Dr. Gary Saunders. He presented me with the excellent opportunity to work in his lab for a year following graduation. Obviously I took it, and am now on a path of discovery into the wild world of algae.
