Suzanne Lemieux
I earned my M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology
from the University of New Brunswick under Sandi’s supervision, graduating with my Ph.D. in 2003.
My graduate research was focused on the sexual and nonsexual impact
of child sexual abuse. My dissertation explored the sexual functioning
of adult survivors of child sexual abuse. However, as a graduate student
I was also involved in numerous other research endeavours. For example,
I was part of a multidisciplinary research team that focused on adolescent
dating violence. I was also part of a research team that explored the
physical and psychosocial impact of chemically-induced menopause on
breast cancer survivors.
I am currently working as a psychologist with two forensic programs within
the Calgary Health Region. I conduct comprehensive
psychological and risk assessments for provincial court (both criminal
and youth court). My work has been cited in several high-profile cases
to date. I also carry an individual psychotherapy caseload, I regularly
provide consultation to team members in both programs, and I provide
staff training seminars on various topics at regular intervals (e.g.,
on sexual offender treatment; on adolescent female aggression; on risk
assessment).
