Shannon Glenn

I came to UNB to work under Sandi's supervision in 1997, after completing my B.A. (Hons) in 1996 at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.  I graduated with a Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2006.

My main research interest has been  the impact of self-blame following sexual coercion on women’s well-being. While working with Sandi at UNB, I  also was involved, as part of a multidisciplinary research team, in qualitative research that examined the impact of breast cancer treatment on women’s sexual functioning. I was a member of two different collaborative multidisciplinary teams connected with the Muriel McQueen Fergusson Centre for Family Violence Research at UNB.  The work of these teams was aimed at preventing dating violence.  I  have had the opportunity to present my research at a number of conferences,  publish journal articles, and  receive a number of research awards. In 2006 I was nominated for the Governor General's Gold Medal for my doctoral work.

For a number of years I was a Clinical Associate working in the private practice that Sandi shares with her partner, Dr. Larry Heinlein.  This provided a valuable foundation for my pre-doctoral internship and subsequent clinical work. I am currently in private practice as a licensed clinical psychologist in Fredericton, New Brunswick.  I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to benefit from Sandi's clinical and research mentorship.

Here are my publications
