Canada Research Chair

The Federal Government announced in 2000 a program of 2,000 Canada Research Chairs over five years, as part of their ongoing research strategy to enable Canadian research institutions to compete at the highest levels of reserch excellence. Professor B. J. Balcom was recently awarded a prestigious Tier I Chair, which is a renewable seven-year, $1.4 million prize. The Chair entitles the holder to apply for an accompanying Canada Foundation for Innovation grant towards supporting infrastructure.
