Variability in weather conditions
- Investigate the effect of high-accuracy ( cm-level ) positioning and
navigation using GPS carrier-phase in terms of variability in weather
conditions at each sight ( caused, for example, by incoming weather fronts
).
- GPS signal is affected by variability in the weather as it passes through
the troposphere, affecting primarily the vertical component.
- As a front approaches, it affects one base station and not the other.
- Data will be collected in different seasons, periods with distinct weather
conditions, aiming at detecting effects coming from seasonal variations,
daily variations, cold fronts, etc.
- Also, the Bay of Fundy is a very particular "sea creature"
regarding weather.
