The new school year is underway and to celebrate, the Department held its annual pizza party on 15 September. The undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty and staff managed to go through 288 pieces of pizza and 140 cans of pop.

We captured this photo of Dr. Secord enjoying pizza. And what is that on Dr. Secord's face? A smile? At the pizza party? Good thing we've got a picture of that! (Photo: Terry Arsenault, 2005-September-15)

Thank you to Dr. John Hughes Clarke who sponsored a retreat for the office staff this summer and Dr. Peter Dare who escorted Kim, Tracey, Sylvia, and Sheri to St. Andrews for some whale watching on 25 August. We started our day with a lovely breakfast in a little café then on to the Cory to see some whales. On the way out, we saw seals basking on the rocks. While sailing, we saw a Finback whale and baby swimming then feeding, and on the way back in we saw a Minke whale. The day ended with a lobster dinner at a little restaurant on Main Street.
