A Review of the Montreal CIG Conference and the Economic Status of the Industry

The presentation given by GGE students who attended the conference will include a brief overview of the CIG Conference held in Montreal last October, with particular emphasis on one presentation by Tammy Nguyen from Natural Resources Canada concerning the economic status of the geomatics industry. We will summarize the presentation initially delivered at the Conference, touching on the key points that were highlighted by Statistics Canada's survey results. The main topics covered will be the number of establishments, employment, revenues, exports, GDP, as well as the industry's views on prospects and inhibitors to growth and innovation.

There will also be a short presentation by the new President of the CIG, New Brunswick Branch, Mr. Doug Morgan, Trainor Surveys.
