Thierry Chopin participates in the University of New Brunswick Marine Semester

Every two years, Thierry Chopin participates in the University of New Brunswick Marine Semester, which takes place at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre, in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, from the beginning of September to the end of November.

Thierry Chopin teaches the seaweed component of the courses Biol 3903 (Diversity and habitats of marine organisms) and Biol 3913 (Adaptations of marine organisms), and the course Biol 3923 (History and development of marine aquaculture).

This year there were 13 students, mostly in their third year of study, with Marine Biology specialization, including two Australian students, one German student studying in Australia, and three students of Chinese origin. This made for a diverse group of students, with broad horizons, and it was a pleasure teaching and interacting with them.

It never crossed my mind, but 13 students is exactly what is needed to spell out Thierry Chopin! The University of New Brunswick may, however, have other criteria regarding the number of students registering in the Marine Semester!
